Do you love Mt. Pleasant? Show us! #LoveMtPleasant is a community photo contest aimed at showcasing the local talent in our neighborhood. Join us in celebrating the spirit of Mount Pleasant. Enter the #LoveMtPleasant photo contest and your photo could be featured in one or more of Mt. Pleasant’s 16 bus shelters, along with great prizes from local businesses. Winning photographs will be selected from both email submissions as well as Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag #LoveMtPleasant. Enter now through May 31st.
What is the contest theme?
The photo contest’s theme is “Love Mt. Pleasant.” Any photographs that capture the essence, spirit, and iconography of the Mt. Pleasant community will be considered. The goal is to celebrate the neighborhood, the community, the businesses, and the residents.
What are the contest dates?
The contest will run from May 1st through the 31st.
How do I enter?
To enter the main contest, email your submissions to LoveMtPleasant@gmail.com. We will only accept digital submissions in jpeg or jpg format, at a minimum of 1600 pixels on the long edge and at 300 dpi. (High resolution is key for maintaining a good quality image for the large format printing in the bus shelters!)
For Instagram and Facebook, simply hashtag your images during the contest timeline with #LoveMtPleasant. You may enter an image into both the main contest and the Instagram contest.
Is there a limit to how many images can be entered?
Yes, but only for email submissions. We ask that you limit your email submissions to 5 images, however, you may hashtag as many images as you want via Instagram and Facebook.
Is there an entry fee?
Nope. You don’t have to pay a dime! Sweet deal.
Do I need to live in Mt Pleasant?
You do not need to live in Mt Pleasant to enter, but all entered images need to have been taken in Mt Pleasant.
Is there a time limit in which my images must have been taken?
Nope, images can be taken at any time, as long as you have the digital file available. They do, however, need to be submitted within the contest dates. (May 1st - 31st)
How will the photos be judged?
Entries will be judged by a panel of photographers and business owners from Mount Pleasant. There will be a main contest, for email submissions, as well as a social media contest, for Instagram and Facebook entries.
Can I submit images that feature people in them?
Yes, but we will need a ‘model release’ form, which we will send out if your photo is chosen to make sure they are OK with having their image featured around the neighborhood. For under-18's a parent or guardian must sign the release form.
How will my photos be used?
You will retain copyright over all of the photos submitted. By entering the contest you are agreeing to grant the #LoveMtPleasant Contest Organizers non-exclusive rights to reproduce your images on Mt Pleasant bus shelters, posters, and other products such as calendars and postcards to promote Mount Pleasant. Winning images may also be featured on the website of the contest organizers, sponsors and associated media, and select images may be featured during the contest. We will always credit the photographers with their images. The Organizers accept no liability for misuse of images or failure of any third parties to comply with the Contest's credit guidelines.
Participation in this Contest (both the main contest and Instagram contest) implies acceptance of the terms outlined above. The Jury reserves the right to select finalists or withdraw images from the contest.
