This weekend I had the opportunity to visit Nashville, Tennessee to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of a close friend from college. I have heard a lot about Nashville over the last few years - that it's a fun, vibrant city, with plenty of activities to keep you occupied, that it's a country music mecca, that it is (apparently) the top destination for bachelorette weekends in the nation. So when I disembarked my plane at 3:00 p.m. Friday and stepped foot into Music City, I was excited to see if it would live up to the hype.
Without a doubt, this Southern city has earned both its name and reputation. Over the course of my three-day stay, I found myself falling in love with Nashville. Days and nights spent walking and riding around the city with friends, enjoying some of the best food, drink and music to be found have been the highlight of my summer. If you're looking to escape the East Coast for a brief period, I would recommend this destination in a heartbeat.
Now, I'm not much of a country music fan, but since I landed back in the District, I've been blasting it and dreaming of sunny summer days spent on Broadway Street with some of my favorite people. This week's 'What We're Listening To' playlist is made up of country hits, both new and old, that have been playing on my iTunes non-stop over the last few days.
